This is the largest hall in the Museum but it is subdivided into different theatres of war. We will look around as many as possible.

We call this section Britain at Bay. It contains the Thornycroft Bison, an old lorry 'armoured' with concrete. Moving round to the right we have part of an armoured train; a little Morris reconnaissance car and a very famous Sherman tank. This is 'Michael' the first Sherman supplied to Britain under the Lease-Lend deal. Other tanks in this section include the Covenanter and Matilda CDL. Behind us is the Sherman DD and Tetrarch light tank. We can go across and look at them in a moment, but first our DESERT WARFARE display.
