Tank Museum Patron, HRH The Duke of Kent, and Fundraising Appeal President His Grace The Duke of Westminster flew in by helicopter to inspect building work on the 5000 square metre new display hall, currently under construction at the Museum.
Tank Museum spokesman Nik Wyness said; “They were both very impressed at the progress being made, and share our excitement about the very bright future ahead of The Tank Museum."
The Dukes' were shown new vehicles on display at The Museum, and on a behind the scenes tour were shown some of the supporting collections that will go on display for the first time when the new exhibition hall is completed in January 2009.
The two Dukes' have had a long association with The Tank Museum – having both themselves been career soldiers who served in armoured vehicles.
"They certainly knew their stuff!" said Nik. "Their knowledge and experience of the subject matter has made them invaluable in garnering support for our fundraising efforts – and without their help we would not be where we are today. We are delighted they are both so enthusiastic about their association with us, and would like to thank them for all their support."
The Tank Museum remains open during the remainder of the work.
