YOUNG ARTISTS WORK GOES ON DISPLAY
News Release issued: 19th February 2008
Winners of a Dorset Echo art competition saw their work go on display at The Tank Museum today.  Budding young artists submitted drawings of tanks in a competition run in association with The Tank Museum in October, and Museum bosses chose six of the best to adorn hoardings that now cosmetically improve the approach to the Museums temporary entrance.

Museum spokesman Nik Wyness said; “We were really impressed by the quality of the entries and the level of detail that some of these drawings demonstrated. I was also impressed that there we as many entries from girls as from boys which certainly steps on the idea that The Tank Museum is something for the boys!"

The youngsters, aged between 7 and 11, were each presented with a mini panel featuring their work, and a family pass to The Museum as part of their prize. The hoardings were funded by contributions from The Tank Museums main contractor Norwest Holst and Arts and Business and will remain at the Museum’s temporary entrance until the museums’ £16m redevelopment project is completed later this year. Following this they will go on permanent display in the purpose built education suite that is also currently under construction.
